Part of the People's Bank of China's ongoing calligraphy series, this issue focuses on the "gentleman" character as a vehicle for showcasing the cursive script style — one of the most technically demanding forms in classical Chinese writing. The series was designed partly in response to growing domestic collector interest in culturally specific themes following the international success of earlier PBC commemorative programs in the 2010s.
