| Obverse description | Central field features a small circular sunburst motif surrounded by a radiating wheel design divided into eight segments, each bordered by stylized cloud or ruyi-scroll ornaments in the manner of traditional Chinese decorative art. The legend 中华人民共和国 (People's Republic of China) is inscribed in Chinese characters arranged around the upper and lateral portions of the design. The denomination 拾圆 and the year 2007 appear toward the lower portion of the field. The overall composition is rendered in high relief against a polished background. |

The Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region was established on May 1, 1947 — two years before the People's Republic of China itself existed — making it the first autonomous region created under Communist Party administration. Its founding predated the PRC by enough time that the region's political framework was already operational when the new state was proclaimed in Beijing. This commemorative marks the 60th anniversary of that founding, not of any national milestone.
