Obverse description A finely detailed coiled imperial dragon occupies the central field, encircled by a raised beaded border. The dragon, rendered in high relief with scaled body, clawed feet, and open jaws, grasps a flaming pearl at its center. Surrounding the beaded circle, Chinese characters arranged radially in the outer annulus read the issuing authority and regnal date, with two raised dot separators flanking the legend at top and bottom. Below the beaded circle, the denomination '十圓' (Ten Yen) is inscribed in large characters within the lower field. The overall design reflects the Western engraving style of Leonard Charles Wyon applied to traditional Japanese imperial iconography.
