| Obverse description | A large stylized hibiscus flower in full bloom occupies the central field, rendered in low relief against a plain background. The petals radiate outward from a textured central pistil, filling nearly the entire flan. The curved legend ESSAI - PATTERN - PROBE arcs along the upper periphery in incuse Latin characters. The date 2007 appears in the lower field beneath the floral motif, centered between two small raised stops. |

| Additional information |
Montserrat's coinage history is largely theoretical — the island uses the Eastern Caribbean dollar and has never issued circulating coins under its own authority. Pattern pieces like this one were produced speculatively, almost certainly by a private mint seeking to interest the local government or collectors in an independent coinage that never materialized. The volcanic eruption of 1995 destroyed Plymouth, the capital, and displaced the majority of the population; any political appetite for a distinct Montserratian currency was buried well before 2007.
