Obverse description The national coat of arms of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea occupies the central field, depicting a hydroelectric power station beneath a radiant star, framed by sheaves of rice and a ribbon bearing an inscription. The arms are rendered in fine detail against a mirror-polished proof field. A circular Korean-script legend arcs around the upper periphery, identifying the issuing authority, while the fineness indicators '1 OZ' and '999' appear to the left and right of the arms respectively. The denomination '10 WON' is inscribed in Latin characters along the lower exergue, flanked by decorative foliate sprigs.
