Obverse description Central device depicts the Taedong Gate (동대문), the historic East Gate of Pyongyang, rendered in fine detail with its characteristic multi-tiered traditional Korean pavilion roof rising above a massive stone embrasure, flanked by stylized trees in the lower field. The denomination '10 WON' appears in Latin characters along the lower rim. The surrounding legend in Hangul script reads '조선민주주의인민공화국' (Democratic People's Republic of Korea), arranged along the upper and lateral periphery of the coin.
