| Obverse description | Cast brass cash coin featuring a central square perforation surrounded by four Chinese characters in regular script (kaishu), reading clockwise: 嗣 (top), 德 (right), 寶 (bottom), 鈔 (left), forming the reign legend 嗣德寶鈔 (Tu Duc Bao Sao). The characters are boldly rendered in raised relief within the flat inner field. A plain raised rim borders the outer edge, and the reverse of the square hole is defined by a raised square border. The overall style is consistent with Vietnamese imperial cash coinage of the Tu Duc era. |
