Obverse description Bare-headed right-facing effigy of Ferdinand IV of Naples, with long flowing hair tied at the back and dressed curls above the ear, occupying the central field. The portrait is rendered in a neoclassical style with fine engraving detail. The encircling Latin legend reads FERDINAN.IV.D.G.SICILIAR·ET HIE·REX, interrupted at the base by the engraver's initial P. below the truncation of the neck.
