| Obverse description | Central vignette is a portrait of Şoqan Şıñġısulı Wälïxanulı (born Muxammed Qanafïya, 1835–1865), the celebrated Kazakh scholar, ethnographer, and historian after whom the Kazakh Academy of Sciences is named, rendered against a multicolour guilloche underprint with traditional Kazakh ornamental borders running along the upper and lower margins. The denomination numeral and issuing authority inscriptions appear in Kazakh Cyrillic script, accompanied by the dates of his birth and death. |
