Obverse description The national coat of arms of Samoa occupies the central field, depicting a quartered shield bearing palm trees above stylised waves in the upper half and five stars of the Southern Cross in the lower half, surmounted by a Christian cross. The shield is encircled by a wreath of olive branches and a scroll below bears the national motto FAAVAE ILE ATUA SAMOA. The country name SAMOA I SISIFO arcs along the upper legend, while the denomination $10 appears in the lower field.
