Obverse description Three-quarter facing effigy of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, founder of Bangladesh, depicted in traditional dress with his right index finger raised in a characteristic oratory gesture, set against a mirror-polished field. The upper legend in Bengali script arcs around the periphery, reading the famous independence declaration speech excerpt. The figures are depicted in a dynamic, heroic composition against a mirror-polished field, evoking the spirit of the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War. The upper arc carries the commemorative legend in Bengali script, while the lower arc bears the bilingual inscription '40th Victory Anniversary of Bangladesh' in Latin script flanked by the dates '1971 - 2011' at center base.
