Obverse description At right, a portrait vignette of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman (Bangabandhu, 1920–1975), founding father and first President of Bangladesh, rendered in intaglio. The left portion carries guilloche underprint patterns with Bengali inscriptions. The Bangladesh Bank title and obligation clause appear in Bengali script across the face of the note.
Obverse lettering বাংলাদেশ ব্যাংক চাহিবার মাত্র ইহার বাহককে দশ টাকা দিতে বাধ্য থাকিবে
(Translation: Bangladesh Bank is bound to pay the bearer of this ten taka)
Reverse description The central vignette illustrates the Lalbagh Fort Mosque (Quilla Mosque), a three-domed rectangular Mughal-Bengali style mosque situated within the Lalbagh Fort complex in Dhaka, its larger central dome flanked by two smaller ones. The composition is set against a decorative guilloche background with the denomination and issuer inscriptions in Bengali and English. The mosque, now a protected monument under the Department of Archaeology, Bangladesh, is aligned with the tomb of Bibi Pori within the fort complex.
