Reverse description A standing allegorical female figure, identified as the Maid of Holland, faces slightly to the right in baroque style. She holds a hat of liberty atop a long staff in her raised right hand and rests her left hand upon a column or altar adorned with the arms of Holland. She is draped in classical robes with her hair dressed in curls. The circular Latin legend HAC NITIMVR HANC TVEMVR surrounds the figure, meaning 'On her we lean, her we protect.'
