Obverse description A snow lion passant faces left at center, surrounded by elaborate scroll ornaments. Encircling the central device within the petals of an eight-petalled lotus are the Buddhist Eight Auspicious Symbols (Ashtamangala): a white parasol, a conch shell, a treasure vase, a victory banner, a dharma wheel, a pair of golden fish, an endless knot, and a lotus flower. The overall design exhibits a distinctive Tibetan artistic style with finely detailed iconographic elements filling the field.
