The "Mother Field" (Эне Талаа) series issued by the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic commemorates the agricultural heartland of the Chuy Valley, which has sustained Kyrgyz settlement since at least the early medieval period. These silver issues were part of a broader commemorative program launched after Kyrgyzstan's independence, using collector coinage to assert and explore national cultural identity through imagery tied to land rather than politics.
