| Additional information |
Somaliland declared independence from Somalia in 1991 following the collapse of the Siad Barre regime, but has never received formal recognition from any UN member state. Its currency, issued by the Bank of Somaliland, functions domestically despite that legal ambiguity. The 2006 shilling series drew attention primarily for its zodiac-themed reverses, an unusual choice for a predominantly Muslim territory.
KM#14 is among the more casually collected of the zodiac set, with Virgo pieces turning up frequently in bulk lots.
