Obverse description Two crossed flags — one the Union Jack and one a colonial ensign — are vignetted at the top centre beneath a banner inscribed UNDER ACT OF THE FEDERAL PARLIAMENT OF 7TH AUGUST 1894. A circular denominational cartouche bearing the numeral 10 and the letter S appears at the upper right. The central text panel, set against a red guilloche underprint reading SHILLINGS, carries the legend THIS NOTE WILL BE RECEIVED BY THE GOVERNMENT OF THE COOK ISLANDS FOR TEN SHILLINGS STERLING IN PAYMENT OF IMPORT DUTY OR OTHER DUES, with a manuscript registration date and the printed designation RECEIVER OF REVENUE at the lower right.
