Obverse description The brass centre displays the national emblem of Somaliland: an eagle displayed with outstretched wings supporting a balance scale, flanked by olive branches forming a wreath, with clasped hands at the base and a star below. An Arabic inscription appears above the eagle within the centre. The legend BAANKA SOMALILAND arcs around the upper portion of the copper-nickel ring, while SHILIN 10 SHILLINGS is inscribed along the lower arc, all separated by a beaded border.
