Obverse description Central brass disc bearing the National Coat of Arms of Somaliland, surrounded by a copper-nickel ring featuring all twelve zodiac symbols arranged in a continuous band between two concentric circles. The legend BAANKA SOMALILAND arcs along the upper portion of the ring, and the denomination 10 SHILLINGS appears in the lower field. The twelve zodiac glyphs are evenly spaced around the circumference, serving as a decorative and thematic border element.

Reverse description The brass centre features a stylised sea-goat (Capricorn) in a reclining posture, rendered in bold relief with flowing lines suggesting the creature's mythological hybrid form of goat and fish. The copper-nickel outer ring bears the inscription CAPRICORN arcing across the upper field, flanked on each side by a series of six five-pointed stars evenly spaced around the ring. The date 2012 is inscribed in the lower portion of the ring, flanked by star decorations.
