| Obverse description | The note is printed in blue and red on a fine guilloche underprint. Two oval vignettes flank the central text panel: at left, two Māori figures in traditional dress, and at right, a coastal landscape with a palm tree, kiwi birds, and a volcano in the background. The bank title appears in ornate blackletter script across the top, with the promise to pay legend and denomination in bold letterpress at centre.
