| Obverse description | The obverse displays a multi-line Persian inscription in Nasta'liq script filling the entire field, arranged in four horizontal registers separated by raised linear rules. The legend proclaims the sovereignty and religious authority of Mahmoud Hotaki, referencing divine sanction for his rule, and concludes with the mint name Isfahan (ضرب اصفهان) in the lower register. The script is boldly struck in high relief against a flat field, characteristic of Safavid-era hammered coinage technique adopted by the Hotak dynasty. The coin's edge is irregular, typical of hand-struck flans of the period. |
