Reverse description Central field dominated by a large cherry blossom (sakura) in full bloom, rendered in low relief with detailed petals radiating from a raised centre. The legend 大日本 (Great Japan) arcs around the upper portion of the field, with the era and date inscription 昭和二十年 (Showa year 20, i.e. 1945) arranged along the lower arc. The design is executed in the same unglazed red porcelain as the obverse, with restrained but precise detail consistent with the experimental wartime ceramic coinage series.
