Reverse description A sixteen-petalled chrysanthemum sunburst crest is centrally positioned within a beaded inner circle, symbolising the Imperial House of Japan. The crest is flanked by a decorative wreath of paulownia and cherry blossom branches that frames the inner circle. Above the beaded circle, a chrysanthemum blossom is depicted between two paulownia flowers. The overall composition is symmetrical and heraldic in character, consistent with the Imperial coinage aesthetic of the early Meiji period.
