Reverse description Three staffs bearing large heraldic flags or banners arranged in a splayed, converging composition, surmounted by a large ducal crown at their intersection. Below the crown, an ornamental cartouche or floral device occupies the lower field. The circular Latin motto legend NEC NVMINA DESVNT (meaning 'Nor do the divine powers fail') runs around the periphery, reflecting the dynastic and religious confidence of the House of Savoy.
