| Reverse description | A standing draped figure of Saint John the Baptist occupies the central field, rendered in baroque style, holding a long staff or processional cross in his left hand from which a banner hangs, while his right arm extends outward in a gesture of proclamation. A lamb, the traditional attribute of the saint, reclines at his feet to the lower right. The surrounding Latin legend NON SVRREXIT MAIOR, a scriptural reference to Saint John (Matthew 11:11 — 'There hath not risen a greater'), arcs around the upper field, with the denomination S·X (Scudi 10) inscribed in the lower exergue. |
