| Obverse description | The Royal Arms of Morocco, centrally positioned in the field, depicts a shield bearing a green pentagram (Solomon's Star) on a red ground beneath a rising sun, flanked by two rampant lions serving as supporters, and surmounted by a royal crown. Bank Al-Maghrib introduced this denomination in 2002 as part of Mohammed VI's first coinage reform following his accession in 1999, after the death of Hassan II ended a 38-year reign. The transition required a complete reworking of the circulating series — Hassan II's image had appeared on Moroccan coinage since 1965.
Aluminium bronze was retained from the preceding Hassan II issues, maintaining continuity in the alloy while marking a dynastic shift in attribution.
