Obverse description Red-violet intaglio print on blue guilloche underprint. A central vignette presents the Saptakoteshwar temple of Lord Shiva at Narve-Bicholim, flanked by bilingual text panels on either side. The date appears at upper left, the serial number in a framed box at upper right and lower left, with a signature panel at the foot of the note.
Obverse lettering BANCO NACIONAL ULTRAMARINO EM NOVA GOA LISBOA, 11 de JANEIRO de 1938 DECRETO No. 17.154 DEZ RUPIAS PAGÁVEL AO PORTADOR NA INDIA PORTUGUÊSA
(Translation: National Bank Overseas in Nova Goa Lisbon, January 11, 1938. Decree no. 17,154 Ten Rupee Payable to bearer in Portuguese India)
Reverse description Printed in red-violet intaglio throughout, the reverse is dominated by a central vignette of a snarling tiger stalking through tall grass, framed by ornate columnar supports and elaborate guilloche lacework. Denomination numeral "10" appears in framed cartouches at left and right within rosette guilloche medallions. The printer's imprint reads "THOMAS DE LA RUE & COY. LTD" and "GRAVADORES, LONDRES" at the lower margin.
