Obverse description Right-facing crowned effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, engraved by Cecil Thomas, wearing the George IV State Diadem and a pearl necklace, her hair arranged in soft curls beneath the crown. The truncation of the bust is clearly defined, and fine detail is rendered throughout the portrait in a naturalistic style. The encircling legend reads QUEEN ELIZABETH THE SECOND, with the date 1971 positioned to the left of the effigy. A beaded inner border frames the entire design.
