| Obverse description | Within a raised inner circle, the central field depicts the Passikudah tourist resort rendered as a row of traditional pitched-roof beach bungalows flanked by palm trees in the upper portion. In the lower field, the legendary 'Singing Fish' of Batticaloa is shown in high relief emerging from stylized waves, with a musical staff bearing notes arching above it to evoke the fabled nocturnal singing phenomenon of the lagoon. The trilingual legend reading the city name in Tamil at left, Sinhala at centre, and Latin at right arcs along the upper periphery, with the date 2013 inscribed at the bottom. |
