Additional information

The Central Bank of Seychelles introduced bimetallic coinage relatively late compared to regional peers, with this denomination entering circulation as part of a broader modernization push intended to reduce the cost and frequency of note replacement in the humid island climate, where paper currency deteriorates rapidly.
