The Central Bank of Seychelles was established in 1983, taking over monetary functions from the Seychelles Monetary Authority. Thomas De La Rue's involvement with the island's currency dates back well before this series, giving these notes a printing lineage that predates the Central Bank itself. The P#36 series ran across a decade-long window, which is unusually long for a low-denomination note in a tourist-dependent economy subject to periodic inflationary pressure.
Two signatures appear on the series — Weber and Chang Leng — reflecting a gubernatorial transition mid-run rather than a distinct variety issue.
