Khabarovsk's State Bank branch issued this note amid the extraordinary administrative chaos of 1918, when the Russian Far East had no stable monetary authority and local branches were effectively improvising currency to keep commerce moving. The Bolsheviks had taken control of the region earlier that year, but their grip was loose, contested, and short-lived — Czech Legion forces and Cossack units were already threatening the corridor along the Trans-Siberian Railway.
Regional branch issues from this period vary considerably in surviving print quality, as the notes were produced under obvious logistical constraints with whatever materials were at hand. The S1225 series encompasses several signature and paper variants, making precise attribution consequential for accurate cataloging.
