Qatar's switch to polymer for this denomination came as part of a broader 2020 series refresh, with Note Printing Australia — the Reserve Bank of Australia's wholly owned subsidiary and one of the few facilities globally with deep polymer substrate expertise — handling production. NPA has supplied polymer notes to dozens of central banks, but Gulf state orders remain a relatively small share of their portfolio, making this series somewhat less common in the secondary market than equivalent NPA-printed issues for larger economies.

The transparent window integrated into the substrate is structural, not applied — a distinction that matters for authentication, as applied windows on earlier composite notes are far easier to compromise.
