Additional information

Qatar hosted the 15th Asian Games in December 2006 — the first Gulf state to do so — and issued a commemorative series to mark the occasion. The cycling event was held at the Al-Rayyan velodrome, purpose-built for the games at considerable expense and later repurposed for regional competition. These issues were struck in limited quantities for the collector market and saw no meaningful circulation.
