The OKW camp money system was administrative in purpose: it prevented prisoners from accumulating Reichsmarks that could fund escape attempts or be converted into usable currency outside the wire. Separate denominations were issued for officers and enlisted men, with the two series deliberately incompatible — officers received a distinct issue and were prohibited from exchanging with or transferring scrip to lower ranks.
The pink coloration of this denomination was a deliberate production choice to distinguish it from the blue and green values in the series. S&B 192 is among the more frequently encountered survivors, partly because many prisoners retained their camp scrip as souvenirs rather than surrendering it upon repatriation.
