Reverse description A draped allegorical female figure, representing Liberty, is depicted seated in the central field. She holds an olive branch in one hand as a symbol of peace, and a sword and scales in the other hand as attributes of justice. The date of issue, 1867, appears below the figure in the lower field. The classical allegorical composition is consistent with the academic engraving style widely employed in pattern coinage of the period.
