| Obverse description | Draped bust of Louis XIV facing right, dividing the denomination mark X·R to either side of the effigy. The peripheral legend, separated from the central device by a beaded inner circle, runs around the full circumference and includes the date 1651 at the base. The portrait is rendered in a relatively crude hammered style characteristic of emergency siege coinage, with long flowing hair visible behind the king's head. |
