| Obverse description | The Cedar of Lebanon, the national symbol, depicted prominently in the center of the field with its characteristic spreading branches and broad trunk. To the left and right of the trunk, small mint privy marks flank the tree. The word ESSAI appears to the right of the trunk in the field, indicating the trial nature of this piece. Below the cedar, the Arabic legend مَصرف لُبنان (Banque du Liban) is inscribed in bold relief, with the dual-script date 1972-١٩٧٢ beneath it, and the Latin legend BANQUE DU LIBAN along the lower rim, all within a beaded border. |
