| Additional information |
Nakhchivan is an exclave of Azerbaijan, physically separated from the rest of the country by Armenian territory. The autonomous republic has issued its own coinage since the 1990s, a privilege reflecting its distinct administrative status under the Azerbaijani constitution — though its currency relationship with Azerbaijan remains formally integrated. The 2015 series updated earlier designs and extended the run of a coinage that functions as much as a political statement about Nakhchivan's autonomy as anything else.
