The P#20 series spans the final years of Kedikilwe's tenure as Minister of Finance and the transition to Linah Mohohlo as Bank of Botswana Governor — the two signature combinations together bracket a significant shift in the central bank's leadership. Mohohlo would go on to serve as Governor until 2016, one of the longest tenures in the bank's history.
Oberthur's Rennes facility handled much of Francophone and Commonwealth Africa's printing work during this period, and the security specification here is notably modest — watermark only, without the thread or color-shift features appearing on contemporaneous issues from other southern African central banks.
