| Obverse description | Central device depicting the Afghan national arms: a stylized mosque with onion dome and flanking minarets, set upon a stepped platform, flanked by two spread eagles facing outward at the base, and surrounded by sheaves of wheat on both sides radiating outward against a sunburst field. The Afghan solar year date 1316 appears on a scroll or band below the mosque, and the Arabic legend AFGHANISTAN (افغانستان) is inscribed at the bottom of the field within the wreath. |
