Obverse description The upper centre carries a central vignette of the bank's arms flanked by two allegorical female figures, with the legend INCORPORATED BY ACT OF PARLIAMENT arched above. Large red guilloche underprint letters reading TEN POUNDS occupy the centre field, overlaid by the bank's promise-to-pay text in script. Equestrian statues appear in vignette form at the lower left and lower right corners, with denomination numerals 10 in ornate panels at the upper left and upper right.

Reverse description The entire reverse is covered by an intricate blue guilloche pattern of engine-turned lathe work, with a circular central motif bearing the numeral 10 in large format, surrounded by a circular legend. The composition is entirely ornamental, with no pictorial vignette, relying solely on complex geometric guilloche work to deter counterfeiting. The printer's imprint of Waterlow & Sons Limited, London appears at the foot of the design.
