| Obverse description | A chained winged dragon, depicted in high relief, occupies the right portion of the field, its body coiling downward with a spiked tail and outstretched wings rendered in fine detail. To the left, a heraldic shield bearing a saltire-and-cross design represents the coat of arms of the Kingdom of Mercia.
