Additional information

Issued to mark the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Jersey from German occupation on 9 May 1945, a date still celebrated annually on the island as Liberation Day. The German occupation lasted five years and was the only significant occupation of British soil during the Second World War. Jersey's administration during those years walked a contested line between pragmatic cooperation and resistance, a tension that historians continue to debate.
