| Reverse description | Facing three-quarter portrait of a young Queen Elizabeth II, depicting her early 1950s effigy with styled hair and a pearl necklace, set against a deeply mirrored proof field. The legend 'LIFE OF QUEEN ELIZABETH II' arcs across the upper portion of the field. The denomination '£10' appears in the lower left field in raised lettering. A small engraver's initial mark is visible in the lower right field. The portrait evokes the early years of Her Majesty's reign, complementing the commemorative theme of the Diamond Jubilee issue. |

| Additional information |
Ascension Island has no permanent civilian population and no local economy to speak of — it exists as a British Overseas Territory administered primarily for its strategic communications and military value. Coins issued in its name are, without exception, produced for the collector market. This piece was struck by the Pobjoy Mint to mark Elizabeth II's sixty years on the throne, the second such jubilee of her reign after the Silver in 1977.
