| Additional information |
Dame Vera Lynn died in June 2020 at the age of 103, and the Royal Mint's commemorative program moved relatively quickly by institutional standards to produce a dedicated silver issue. Lynn had been the subject of sustained public affection for decades after the war, but her cultural prominence genuinely spiked again in 2009 when her compilation album became the first recording by a living artist over 90 to reach number one on the UK charts.
The £10 denomination places this squarely in the Mint's larger-format proof series, struck to the same five-nines-adjacent standard used for their most ambitious collector pieces of the period.
