The 2007 date places this squarely in the first year of the Britannia platinum bullion series, which the Royal Mint launched to complement its long-running gold and silver Britannia programs. Platinum Britannias never achieved the commercial traction of their gold counterparts — annual mintages remained low and the series attracted a narrower collector base — which incidentally makes early-date examples harder to source than their modest profile might suggest.
