Obverse description Intaglio portrait of Governor Arthur Phillip in an oval vignette at left, with the Royal Australian Arms at top centre flanked by the denomination £10 in each upper corner. The legal tender inscription is rendered in copperplate script across the centre field, with 'Ten Pounds' in large red intaglio lettering below. Two facsimile signatures of the Governor of the Commonwealth Bank and the Secretary to the Treasury appear beneath the central text, with serial number and prefix repeated twice in the upper portion.

Reverse description A flowering wattle tree vignette occupies the left portion of the note, while the central field contains allegorical symbols representing science, industry, and law rendered in fine intaglio engraving.
