Obverse description The obverse features a fine uncrowned effigy of King Charles III facing left, executed in high relief by engraver Glyn Davies in a contemporary and naturalistic style. The portrait presents the King with short hair and a draped collar, rendered with considerable sculptural depth against a deeply mirrored proof field. The circular legend reads CHARLES III · BAILIWICK OF GUERNSEY, arcing around the upper periphery, with the date 2024 positioned centrally at the base between two raised dots.

Additional information

The Royal Mews at Buckingham Palace has functioned as a working stable and carriage house since the 1820s, when John Nash rebuilt the site under George IV. It remains operational — the horses and vehicles used in state ceremonial occasions, including coronations and the State Opening of Parliament, are maintained there year-round. Guernsey has issued high-denomination silver kilo-class pieces of this type with some regularity since the 2010s, typically timed to royal ceremonial occasions.
