The Seymour Unicorn derives from one of ten heraldic beasts that flanked the canopy at Henry VIII's funeral in 1547, later appearing as supporters at Edward VI's coronation. The Royal Mint's Queen's and King's Beast programs have systematically worked through this bestiary since 2017, with the Seymour Unicorn appearing in the final grouping under Charles III after the series carried over from Elizabeth II's reign — an unusual dynastic continuity for a single numismatic program.
